Sunderland A.F.C.

Arthur made his reserve team debut at the age of 16 then his first team debut aged just 18 against Leeds at Roker Park on 16th April 1938. The following two photographs are the earliest we have of Dad in the famous red & white stripes.

The following season, 38 -39,  Dad cemented his place in the first team playing a dozen league games which included 5 games in 14 days in September, so fixture congestion happened in these days as well.....

We are looking to develop this page about Dad's Sunderland career further, this will be done in time and will cover every season Dad played right through to 1954-55.

Signs professional forms,

Earliest set of team autograph's that included Dad's.

Looking at the other autograph's most of them appear to be from the 1937 cup winning team, Raich Carter's being in the bottom left corner.
