The draw for round 4 gives Sunderland a home tie
against Southampton
The FA rules at the time said that if the strips clashed then both teams had to play in their away strip. The problem then was that both away strips clashed so both teams were told to borrow strips. As a result Sunderland borrowed strips from our close friends up the road, consequently we played a home game wearing black & white stripes !!
